   You need to install the drivers for your video card.

   This monitor is plenty capable of running at SVGA and even higher. But the reason you only have options for VGA is because the computer is using a generic video driver.

   You need to go to emachine's website and download and install the video driver for your particular computer.

   If your dvd player has a digital monitor output, or HDMI output… most computer monitors only accept analog or digital monitor inputs (computer looking connections witht he screws on both sides)

   If your working with newer equipment, you can buy a HDMI to digital monitor converter. And some newer model monitors may have S-vid or component inputs, your dvd player should definately have these

   Basically, just look at the outputs of the dvd player, and look at the inputs of your monitor, if they both have the same plugs, find that cable and connect them..

    VGA cables aren't intended to go more than 10 ft. You will definitely get poor signal at 27 feet. Get higher quality SVGA cables instead of low end VGA cables. SVGA supports higher resolution. I believe VGA is suppose to support up to 640 x 480. Anything above it is considered SVGA or Super VGA. High quality SVGA cables can cost up to $50 especially long cables. However, they do a better job at shielding from interference. I had two 10 ft VGA cables connect together using an adapter. Signal interference was bad.

    You might also want to search for "VGA extender". These device will let you send VGA signals over 100 ft through ethernet cable or wirelessly, but are very costy. Some VGA extenders just repeats the signal so you don't loss much signal when going over 10 ft.

    Maybe the game makes your computer bright. i can't think of any of way why the game would do that. or it could be your computer. and you can turn the brightness down with the contrast or if you have a button to press or an application.
