Benjamin Asked:

Is there any possible way of forcing a 15 inch flat panel monitor to use the 1280 x 1024 resolution instead of the 1024 x 768 resolution?

Reply:

Yes, however it is not advised. LCD monitors are created to display a "native" resolution. Anything other than that setting will be a little blurred. CRT monitors do not have this problem and can display most resolutions with no problem however CRT's are old school big.

To answer your question
Click:
-START
-CONTROL PANEL
-DISPLAY
-You will see 5 or so tabs on top. Select the last tab called "Settings"
-There is a slider bar to adjust the "screen resolution" which yours is currently set to 1024x768. You want to slide it one notch to thr right to get the 1280x1024 resolution.
-Click APPLY then OK
-Voila, you are finished.

Now if you are unable to move the slider bar to the right or if 1024x768 is the farthest option on the right then that usually means your video card is unable to display at any higher resolution. Tough cookies.

Now if you are thinking "Hey my video is supposed to be really good. Why can't it go higher?" Then there is the possibility that you never updated the drivers (software) for your video card. If that is the case then you will have to download the latest drivers from your video card manufacturer's website and install them. Of course that would be a different question.
