I've looked all over-- the only 15 inch UXGA screens are on top-of-the-line IBM Thinkpads and I don't want a $3000 laptop, so I thought I'd ask.

I looked extensively, but I couldn't find a stand-alone, only a laptop. I was able to find a couple 17" UXGA. Try looking for professional or medical equipment - I dug around, but you might get lucky.
I'm curious - is there a reason you're looking for high-res in such a small monitor?

Hi, There are many laptops with 14 inch or 15 inch displays. But 15 inch monitors on desktops are usable with a 800×600 resolution whereas the minimum standard resolution nowadays is 1024×768 (fonts look too tiny to read on 15 inch desktop monitors with this resolution). The 14 or 15 inch laptops claim of higher resolutions than 1024×768, but I wonder whether fonts look tiny at these resolutions on them too? Do we have to end up using an 800×600 resolution on them too to make things readable? Laptop users, kindly tell. Thanks.
It all matters on the type of screen you have. Some screens are slim fits some have a lot of wiring harnesses and fuses that will need to find space for. You might need a trim bezel for the screen to sit lower from the ceiling due to the sun roof. You don't necessarily need to take down the whole ceiling, seems like a lot of extra time to me. I've never had to do it.
You will need to put up a brace made from wood or ABS plastic, this gives the screen something to screw into, it also gives the ceiling more support, and prevents it from sagging.
Before you start tearing into the headliner, check for clearance. Take the the rubber trim off from the sunroof and pull down the headliner a little bit. See how much room you have to deal with. That would be my first move, after that come back and explain what you have.

We have five 15 inch monitors that we want do give away, you can have them for free you just have to come pick them up, they are not flat screens but they all work!

Your settings might be different. All monitors are different so would need different settings. Try experimenting with the different menu items, most likely the trapezoid adjustment will do the trick for you. There should also be a pincusion adjustment which will bulge or unbulge the sides. Just mess around with the settings and see what happens. What have you got to lose?
If this does not work, try using a circular saw to cut down the shape of the monitor to match the picture.

We have 11 computers. We really love our 21 and 24 inch computers. It is great for computer games and TV.
We have had no 'standard' TV for 2 or 3 years now. We plug in TV Tuners and direcTv and it looks and sounds great.
there are two kind of input in the lcd monitor,the first one is the analog(it's the normal old one)that working with all non lcd monitor,the second one is the digital input which increase the performance of graphic and video transferred from the graphic card to the monitor,but u should have the digital output also in ur vga card….most new vga card include digital output.
and there are also 2 kind of cables,digital and analog,so what u see in ur lcd when u start it means u have put ur lcd monitor to digital mode while ur connection cable was set to the analog input of the lcd monitor…so u have 2 options….first one is easy..u must go to the monitor option and change input setting to analog and every thing will be fine,the second one..if u have a digital output in ur vga card u better buy a digital vga cable and connect ur monitor to the vga card with it,u well notice a little bit difference in graphic performance.

I've never heard of a video lag due to a slow monitor. It's always due to the graphics card. But since you will be using the same graphics card and same resolution, I think performance will just be the same.
I am now rocking 2 monitors! The 15 inch one looks so cute next to the 19 incher.
